WORSHIP
The Reverend Lisa Hahneman was called as our
rector and we began our journey together on May 1, 2009.
Worship is at
the center of our life as a community, and everyone is encouraged to
participate with enthusiasm. Let us make a joyful noise to the Lord!
Here at the Church of The Holy Spirit we worship using the Book of
Common Prayer. The bulletin and hymn board will assist you with the page
numbers.
You may wonder
when to stand or kneel. The general rule is to stand during hymns and
during the gospel and you may kneel or stand during prayers. Please sit
while listening to the lessons and homily. Guidance is provided in the
prayer book and bulletin.
All baptized
Christians of any age or denomination are welcome to receive Holy
Communion. If you wish to receive a blessing rather than bread and wine,
cross your hands over your chest. If you have difficulty with the steps,
please tell an usher and communion will be brought to you.
SERVICES
Church of The Holy Spirit offers two Sunday morning services and a Wednesday
evening service. Sunday service at 8:00
is without music or our choir. The 10 a.m. service, which includes our choir and organist,
celebrates with contemporary language. The Wednesday evening
service is celebrated using Rite 1and on the first and third Wednesday of each month we
celebrate with a Service of Healing. Our church school meets at
9:30 a.m. from September through May and our children are brought into
church in time to pass the peace and receive Holy Communion or a
blessing. SUMMER SERVICES begin on June 26, 2010 with the
addition of a Saturday evening service at 5 p.m. and only one service on
Sunday morning at 9 a.m., and the Wednesday night 6 p.m. service also
continues.
