Pledge & Donations

Support our 2021 Annual Fund Campaign

From a logistics standpoint, a pledge is an estimate of giving; some call it a statement of intent. When we make a pledge, we tell the Parish Leadership, "I intend to give this amount of money to support the work of our parish." Pledge amounts may be changed, increased or decreased during the year, at any time as our financial circumstances change.

From a spiritual standpoint, a pledge is an act of love and devotion. Like Abraham (Genesis 14:20), the newly free Israelites (Deuteronomy 26:2-4), and many faithful people of God who have come before us, we make offerings to God as an act of worship. In the words of an old hymn, we make offerings to God because "All things come from from thee, O Lord, and of thine own have we given thee." The act of making and fulfilling a financial pledge is a way to demonstrate gratitude to God.

A pledge is also a participation on God's mission of reconciliation. As Christians, we believe that one of the primary ways God acts in the world is through the Body of Christ--the Church. Church of the Holy Spirit is the localized Body of Christ, placed in West Haven by God's providence, to partner with God's mission in our community and beyond. By pledging $1, $100, $1000 or more we demonstrate our financial and spiritual support for the work God is doing in and through our parish. Your pledge, regardless of its size, helps our Parish Leadership (the Vestry) to plan for faith formation, worship, outreach, and more.

If you choose not to make a pledge, know that you are just as welcome among us as someone who does (James 2:1-7). Whether you offer a pledge or not, we hope that you will consider other ways of supporting the work of our parish including serving in the liturgy, volunteering for outreach opportunities, and more.

Individually, we might think that what we have isn't much; however, when we join with others in offering what little we have into God's hands, we might find that God multiplies our little into much.
